The Department of Music produces the University Chamber Music Series and the New River Valley Symphony Series; both series offer ticketed performances. In addition, numerous choral and instrumental ensemble performances are also produced and are free and open to the public. The University Chamber Music series combines the talents of our faculty with internationally known guest artists creating world-class entertainment. The New River Valley Symphony, comprised of the outstanding musicianship of Virginia Tech faculty, students, and artists from throughout the New River Valley, performs masterworks by the great composers of yesterday and today.

The Rex Theater | Galax
Every Friday night in the City of Galax, Virginia WBRF 98.1 FM sends out 100,000 watts of live old-time and bluegrass music from the stage of the historic Rex Theater into five states and over the World Wide Web. Lincoln Theatre | Marion
Song of the Mountains showcases the music from the Southern Appalachian Region which includes bluegrass, old time, celtic, gospel and country music. Generally the first Saturday of every month at 7:00 pm you and your family are invited to the beautiful Lincoln Theatre in Marion, VA to see and hear the music from the region where it all began. Song of the Mountains started in 2005 with TV tapings for Public TV. These shows were, and continue to be taped before a live audience at the Lincoln Theatre and are broadcast on PBS. Since the 2005 season the show is now syndicated nationally and offered to all PBS affiliates across the United States. Song of the Mountains has won the prestigious Telly Award" and is being aired on over 190 outlets nationwide. Plan to be part of our live TV audience for this season's tapings!
