Horse Heaven Loop and Iron Mountain loop Trails | Marion
The Horse Heaven Ridge area has several beautiful horse trails to explore. The Horse Heaven loop to the north is a wider trail than the Iron Mountain loop, along a moderate road-like grade. To the south, the Iron Mountain Trail is a more challenging ride with stepper grades and mostly single track path.

Virginia Highlands Horse Trail | Marion
Located in the Mount Rogers National Recreation Area, the Virginia Highlands Horse Trail is a 68-mile trail between Elk Garden and VA Rt. 94. It features mountainous terrain, valley views and valley crossings. The trail includes parking and primitive camping for those who trailer horses.

Virginia Creeper Trail | Abington
The trail from Abingdon to Damascus is quite level and is bordered by fields and pastures, leading visitors to a beaver pond, frogs, cottontail rabbits, gray squirrels and red and gray foxes! As many as 40 species of birds can also be seen. From the other end, at Whitetop, bikers love coasting downhill for 18 miles to Damascus. Experienced hikers warn about sudden changes in weather, especially at higher elevations at Mount Rogers National Recreation Area and Whitetop Mountain.

This is a 57-mile long state park that follows an abandoned railroad right-of-way. Horse rentals available. Also, the park has bridle trails, and hitching posts are available at Cliffview Campground for overnight guests. No stalls or covered area for horses. Horse trailers for day-use access must be parked at the Allisonia, Cliffview, Draper, Fries, Pulaski and Jackson Ferry Horse Complex entrances only.

Kissing Rock Camp | Sugar Grove
KRC is located in Sugar Grove Virginia, midway between Damascus and The New River. A short ride puts you in the Mount Rogers National Recreation Area. We invite you to bring your horse, camp and ride the 63 mile Virginia Highlands Horse Trail (VHHT) and it's nearly 200 miles of intersecting trails. KRC offers shady campsites, along with the safety and quiet that seems so hard to come by these days.

White Cedar Horse Camp | Bland
Flat Top Mountain in Bland County. Sites are located around 2 loops. There are 13 single sites, each can accommodate a camper an a horse trailer. There are 3 double sites. Metal pipe corrals are located at each site. Riders can access over 20 miles of trails directly from the campground.

Hussy Mountain Horse Camp | Speedwell
Hussy Mountain is in the east fork of the Dry Run Valley. The area is well-shaded with hardwoods, hemlocks and pines, creating a cool micro-climate. Parking spaces for vehicles and trailers, picnic tables, fire ring, horsestalls and hitching rails are all available. Dry Run provides fishing, wading, watering horses. The camp provides access to the Highlands Horse Trail.
