Mountain Lake Trail System | Pembroke
The Mountain Lake Conservancy manages 2,600 acres of mountainous terrain that encompasses a very unique ecosystem due to an average elevation of over 4,000'. More than twenty miles of fern-lined trails on the property are now open to the public for biking year-round.
Pandapas Pond | Blacksburg
"Pandapas Pond", "Brush Mountain", and "Poverty Creek" are often used interchangeably to describe an extensive trail system just outside the town limits of Blacksburg in the Jefferson National Forest. Pandapas Pond encompasses 500 acres on the north side of Brush Mountain, a 2,843-foot peak that overlooks downtown Blacksburg and Virginia Tech.

A portion of the Catawba Road is designated a scenic byway. This road passes through pastoral landscapes, including historic buildings, mills, a tanyard, a brick kiln, 19th century churches and an early 20th century school. The Catawba Road is also part of the TransAmerica Bikeway.

Blue Ridge Parkway | Virginia
Bicycling on the Blue Ridge Parkway is a popular activity that provides 469 miles of picturesque vistas through Virginia and North Carolina. Ranging in elevation from 600 to 6,000 feet, the road encompasses a variety of ever-changing weather conditions, regardless of the season.
Bisset Park | Radford
Bisset is Radford’s largest city park and is located on 57 acres of riverfront land in the central part of the city. The park offers walking trails, athletic fields, picnic shelters, children’s playground, a sand volleyball area and other opportunities for outdoor recreation.
Virginia Creeper Trail | Damascus
The 35-mile Virginia Creeper Trail distinguishes itself for its beauty and contrasts with the more difficult loops. It was once a railroad bed and part of the national "Rails to Trails" program. The trail begins in Abingdon and meanders over more than 100 trestles and bridges, providing scenic views of gorges and mountain streams.
New River Trail State Park | Foster Falls
The New River Trail State Park follows an abandoned railroad right-of-way that parallels the New River for 39 miles. This unique park features 57 miles of continuous trail, all of which is accessible by bike. The park's Foster Falls Canoe Livery rents canoes, kayaks, tubes, bikes and safety equipment. It also offers shuttle service, snacks and drinks. Another Rails to Trail Program, the park goes through Grayson, Carroll, Wythe and Pulaski counties with plenty of Native American history, railroad and mining history.
New River | Oldest River in North America
The New River is an ancient river system, the oldest on the North American continent and second only to the Nile River in Africa as the oldest river in the world. It begins as two streams in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, before merging into the New River four miles from the Virginia line. And therein lies another quirk of this ancient river - it flows northward rather than southward like most of the other major rivers along the eastern seaboard. It meandors some 160 miles through the counties of Grayson, Carroll, Pulaski, Montgomery and Giles in Virginia before it turns into Bluestone Lake in West Virginia and emerges later as the Kanawha River at the Gauley Bridge. The New River ends its metamorphosis when it empties into the great Mississippi River.
Bozoo
is a quality stretch of sandstone rock on the border of Virginia and West Virginia. Head to Bluestone Lake State Park and you'll discover a developed cliff known as Bozoo. Bozoo is home to 50 routes of colorful, bullet-hard faces that average vertical to overhanging. The majority of the routes follow all-gear natural lines and there are a number of climbs that are classic climbs. Climbs range from 5.7 to 5.13c/d.

Dragon's Tooth | Catawba
This bouldering area is pretty far from the parking lot. After hiking several mile on the Dragon's Tooth trail, you will come to sevearl large fins that are pretty big. The super classic line is the obvious Finger Crack. There is much to be had in the V3 and under category. Other Climbing Areas
Appalachian Trail | Maine to Georgia
Southwestern Virginia includes some of the most spectacular sections of this famous Maine-to-Georgia footpath, with wilderness high summits, mature timber and vivid floral displays from May to October.
The Southwest Virginia section of the Trail covers 166 miles from Pearisburg south to Damascus.

Cana - Ayers' Orchard - The orchard offers pick-your-own cherries, apples, peaches, nectarines, and plums. The crops are seasonal and you must plan your trip according to the season that the crop is ready to pick. Hiking and picnicking are encouraged.
