Carrollwood Campground
A private camping area located only a few miles to the west of Hillsville, Carrollwood Campground is a mixed RV and tent campground. Its tent sites offer a mix of primitive sites and those with hookups. The camping facilities include a camp store with bait, fire rings, shower house and coin laundry. For anglers, Carrollwood has a pair of private fishing ponds that are stocked with bass, brim, carp, catfish and pike.

Gunpowder Springs - The campground is adjacent to the Eggleston 2 boat ramp. Campfires are premitted at this site along with RV's. There are approximately 50 sites, and all sites have water and lighting available with some street lights around. The fee to camp here is $15 a day, $75 a month, or $900 year. There are bathrooms (outhouses) available. Although there are no signs directing you to the campground, it is on the other hand easy to find. New River Park Campground - (540) 626-7361 Newport. Adjacent to the boat ramp. Campfires are permitted. There is water, but it is not drinkable. RV hookups are available. Electricity and bathrooms.
Directions: Go to Newport and turn on to Spruce Run. At the end of the road turn left onto Goodwins Ferry Road. About a half mile later turn right on to New River Park Lane. Contact Information:

Camp Success
Camp Success is adjacent to a boat ramp. Camp fires are permitted here. They do not have a fresh water source or any outside lighting. Rv's, campers, 4-wheelers, or motorcycles allowed on the campgrond. There are 40 sites at Camp Success. There is no fee to visit Camp Success. They do have Bathrooms on the campground. The Meadows of Dan Campground is situated less than 15 miles to the west of Hillsville, not far from Rocky Knob Recreational Area. The forested campground offers tent campsites with electrical hookups in addition to RV sites and rental cabins. The campground has a bathhouse, coin laundry, and a private fishing pond.

Raven Cliff Campground
Raven Cliff Campground is part of the Mount Rogers National Recreation Area in the George Washington and Jefferson National Forest, and is about 15 miles west of Hillsville. The campground is situated along Cripple Creek in a hardwood and pine forest, and offers 20 sites, each with a parking space, tent pad, barbecue grill and picnic table. The camping facilities include a central water tap and vault toilets. For activities, the area offers a creek for wading and fishing and a hiking trail to the Civil War-era Raven Cliff Iron Furnace.
